When I first saw this piece I was mesmerised by the illustration and it got me thinking of stuff I already knew, that Batman is a person underneath all the badassery.
The story behind the image went, that in the future Bruce (Batman) married Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and one night he was getting ready for bed and Selina saw Bruces scares and gasps. I don’t think that even Selina realises the horror of the injuries he sustained as the Batman. It’s something so simple yet when Bruce is in his alter egos outfit you don’t see or think about the fact that Bruce is just a man.
This will always be a favourite from Alex Ross.
